Requirements

  • A New York State Security Guard License is required.
  • At least 1 year of security-related experience is required.
  • Proof of a high school diploma or GED is required by the client.
  • Applicants must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.

Responsibilities

  • Provide customer service to residents, visitors, and/or staff by carrying out site-specific procedures, access support, and when appropriate, emergency response activities within a shelter location.
  • Respond to incidents, disturbances, and/or critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, documenting security-related concerns and reporting them through appropriate channels.
  • Conduct regular and random patrols throughout the facility, common areas, entry points, and perimeter to help to deter unauthorized activity and identify unusual conditions.
  • Monitor entrances, exits, and resident areas in accordance with location policies, helping to manage foot traffic, visitor interactions, and/or requests for assistance.
  • Support staff and residents with de-escalation awareness, policy compliance, and other security-related duties that help maintain order within the location.
