As an Access Control Officer at a shelter location, you will help maintain a welcoming, orderly environment by monitoring entry points, verifying access, conducting routine patrols, and remaining visible to help deter incidents. Requirements

  • A state, county, or city-issued security-related license is preferred.
  • Customer service experience is preferred.
  • Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.

Responsibilities

  • Provide customer service to residents, visitors, staff, and service providers while carrying out site-specific access-control procedures, policies, and emergency response activities at a shelter location.
  • Monitor access points, verify authorization for entry, maintain visitor logs, and direct individuals to appropriate areas in accordance with site procedures.
  • Respond to incidents, resident concerns, and critical situations in a calm, professional, problem-solving manner, escalating security-related matters as appropriate.
  • Conduct regular and random patrols of assigned interior and exterior areas to identify unusual activity, access concerns, and property-related issues.
  • Document incidents, observations, and access-control activities accurately and communicate relevant information to site leadership and Allied Universal supervision.
