About The Position

As a Security Officer - Research Facility in La Jolla, CA, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Education, and more. Join Allied Universal as an unarmed officer at a dynamic education location, where you will monitor and patrol assigned areas, support access control functions, and remain visible to help discourage security-related incidents. This is a driving post. Requirements

  • A minimum of 2 years of security-related experience is required.
  • Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • A valid driver’s license is required in accordance with Allied Universal driver policy requirements.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.

Nice To Haves

  • Access control and badge experience is preferred.
  • CPR certification is preferred.
  • A guard card or license is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide customer service to students, faculty, staff, visitors, and/or contractors by carrying out security-related procedures, location-specific policies, and when appropriate, emergency response activities.
  • Respond to incidents, alarms, medical situations, and/or critical events in a calm, problem-solving manner, documenting observations and sharing relevant information with site contacts and Allied Universal leadership.
  • Conduct regular and random patrols throughout academic, administrative, and common areas, as well as exterior grounds and perimeter locations, noting unusual activity and helping to deter unauthorized access.
  • Monitor entry points, observe campus-related activity, and provide guidance to visitors and/or deliveries in support of daily location operations and established protocols.
  • Assist with reporting hazards, damaged property, and/or policy concerns, and support emergency drills, after-hours checks, and other assigned security-related duties as needed.
