Job Description As a Security Officer - Plant Gatehouse in Spirit Lake, IA , you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Manufacturing & Industrial, and more. As an Access Control Officer with Allied Universal at a fast-paced manufacturing location, you will help manage entry points, verify credentials, greet employees and visitors with professionalism, and document activity. You will conduct routine patrols of assigned areas, stay visible to help to deter security-related incidents, and communicate clearly with site teams. Requirements

  • Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.

Responsibilities

  • Provide customer service to clients, employees, contractors, and visitors by carrying out security-related procedures, site-specific policies, and when appropriate, emergency response activities at a manufacturing and industrial location.
  • Control access at entry points by verifying identification, issuing visitor credentials, and directing authorized personnel to proper destinations in accordance with post orders.
  • Monitor vehicle and pedestrian traffic flow at gates and lobbies, helping to deter unauthorized entry and/or congestion while maintaining a professional presence.
  • Maintain accurate access logs, visitor records, and key or badge control documentation as required by site procedures.
  • Screen deliveries and service providers per site policy, coordinate with receiving and internal contacts, and report irregularities to the appropriate personnel.
  • Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, including initiating notifications and documenting actions taken.
  • Operate and monitor security-related systems such as access control panels, visitor management tools, and CCTV when assigned, and report equipment issues through the proper channels.
  • Conduct regular and random patrols around buildings, production areas, parking lots, and the perimeter as directed, noting unusual conditions and reporting concerns.
  • Assist with emergency and incident response activities such as evacuations, shelter-in-place procedures, and accountability efforts when directed by site leadership.
  • Write clear, detailed reports of daily activities, observations, and incidents, and communicate pertinent information during shift handoff.
  • Support site rules related to restricted areas and controlled processes, helping to deter unauthorized photography, entry, and/or removal of property by following established procedures.
  • Work collaboratively with Allied Universal leadership and site contacts to address access issues, policy questions, and customer service requests.
