About The Position

As a Security Officer - Petrochemical Gatehouse in CHANNAHON , IL , you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Chemical/Petrochemical, and more. As an Allied Universal Access Control Officer at a chemical and petrochemical location, you will help manage entry points, verify credentials and badges, monitor alarm panels, and document activity using a computer and/or tablet. You will remain highly visible, conduct routine patrols of assigned areas, and provide customer-focused communication to employees and visitors. Requirements

Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.

Alarm Panel Experience is preferred.
Comfortable Using Computer or Tablet is preferred.
Customer Service Experience is preferred.
Access Control/Badge Experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

Provide customer service to our clients by carrying out security-related procedures, site-specific policies and when appropriate, emergency response activities.
Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner.
Conduct regular and random patrols around the business and perimeter.
Working environments and conditions may vary by client site.
Control access at entry points for a chemical and petrochemical location by checking identification, verifying authorization, and directing employees, contractors, and visitors to the appropriate destination.
Process visitors and contractors by issuing credentials, maintaining sign-in and sign-out logs, and coordinating notifications and/or escorts per site requirements.
Operate gatehouse and/or lobby access systems, including monitoring alarms, intercoms, and cameras associated with access control points and reporting irregular activity.
Screen packages, deliveries, and service vendors per site policy, confirm delivery details, and route materials to designated receiving areas.
Conduct vehicle access control by verifying driver credentials, reviewing delivery documentation, and coordinating vehicle staging and routing to approved areas.
Document access control activities, incidents, and unusual occurrences in written and/or electronic reports, and escalate concerns through the chain of command.
Support emergency response activities by relaying accurate information, assisting with access restriction measures, and coordinating with site personnel and responding agencies as directed.
