As an unarmed patrol officer supporting a government transit location, you will monitor and patrol assigned areas, conduct routine rounds, and stay visible to help reduce security-related incidents. You will engage with riders and staff through clear communication and outstanding customer service, while documenting observations and reporting concerns. Requirements

  • Possess a New York State Security Guard License.
  • Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.

Responsibilities

  • Provide customer service to commuters, employees, and visitors by carrying out security-related procedures, site-specific policies, and when appropriate, emergency response activities at a government transportation location.
  • Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, including medical calls, disturbances, and service disruptions, and promptly notify designated personnel as required.
  • Conduct regular and random patrols throughout stations, platforms, entrances, and surrounding areas to help to deter unauthorized activity and/or identify hazards and maintenance concerns for reporting.
  • Monitor access points and public areas, enforce posted rules and restricted-area controls as directed, and assist with orderly movement of pedestrian traffic during peak periods and special events.
  • Complete required reports and logs, document incidents and patrol activity, and maintain clear radio and/or phone communication with supervisors and local partners.
