Requirements
- Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
- As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
- Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
- As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
- Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
- A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.
Nice To Haves
- Comfortable using a computer or tablet is preferred.
- Possession of a guard card or license is preferred.
- Customer service experience is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Provide customer service to patrons, visitors, and staff by carrying out site-specific security-related procedures, policies, and emergency response activities at a public library location.
- Respond to incidents, disturbances, medical situations, and other critical events in a calm, professional, problem-solving manner, following established protocols.
- Conduct regular and random unarmed patrols of library interior spaces, entrances, exterior areas, parking areas, and the surrounding perimeter to help deter unauthorized activity.
- Monitor access points and observe visitor activity, reporting suspicious behavior, maintenance concerns, and security-related incidents to appropriate personnel.
- Prepare accurate reports and maintain clear communication with library representatives, Allied Universal leadership, and emergency responders as needed.
