As an unarmed Patrol Officer at an education location, you will monitor and patrol assigned areas, conduct routine rounds, maintain a visible presence to help reduce security-related incidents, and support access control needs. You will deliver customer-focused assistance and clear communication to students, staff, and visitors while documenting activity and escalating concerns as needed. Requirements

Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.

Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.

Nice To Haves

Ability to ride a bike for long periods of time is preferred.
Access control and/or badge experience is preferred.
Ability to lift more than 20 lbs is preferred.

Responsibilities

Provide customer service to students, faculty, staff, and visitors by carrying out security-related procedures, site-specific policies, and when appropriate, emergency response activities.
Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, including calls for assistance, disturbances, suspicious activity, and medical situations, and notify appropriate parties as needed.
Conduct regular and random patrols of academic buildings, residence areas, common spaces, and parking areas to help to deter unwanted activity and identify hazards or policy violations.
Control access to assigned locations by monitoring entrances, checking credentials when required, and directing visitors to appropriate destinations in accordance with site procedures.
Monitor alarms, cameras, radios, and/or other security-related systems when assigned, and report irregular conditions following post orders.
Write clear, timely reports of daily activity, incidents, and observations, including witness information and actions taken.
Assist with campus events and special assignments by providing presence, crowd direction, and queue management, and coordinating with site staff and/or local responders when needed.
Provide escorts and assistance for students, staff, and visitors when requested and permitted by site policy.
Enforce site rules and policies in a professional manner, using de-escalation techniques and contacting supervision and/or law enforcement when appropriate.
Conduct perimeter checks of doors, gates, and restricted areas, and document and report unsecured areas, damaged property, or maintenance concerns.
