About The Position

As a Security Officer - Campus Rover Patrol in New York, NY, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Education, and more. As an unarmed Patrol Officer at a leading education location, you will monitor and patrol buildings and grounds, conduct routine rounds, and stay highly visible to help discourage security-related incidents. You will assist students, faculty, staff, and visitors with directions and service-minded communication, document observations, and escalate concerns promptly. Requirements

  • Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.

Responsibilities

  • Provide customer service to students, faculty, staff, and visitors by carrying out security-related procedures, site-specific policies, and when appropriate, emergency response activities.
  • Conduct regular and random foot patrols of academic buildings, residence halls exteriors, common areas, parking areas, and perimeter walkways; working environments and conditions may vary by location.
  • Monitor access points and help to deter unauthorized entry by observing activity, checking credentials when required, and/or directing visitors to the proper entry and check-in areas.
  • Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, including alarms, disturbances, medical calls, and/or suspicious activity, and request additional resources when needed.
  • Observe and report conditions that may impact operations, including unsecured doors, broken lights, and/or unusual behavior; document findings per site procedure.
  • Complete required reports and logs in a timely manner, including incident reports, patrol activity reports, and/or daily shift summaries.
  • Provide directions and general assistance, support event foot traffic flow when assigned, and coordinate with site representatives on special instructions for campus activities.
  • Use site communication tools such as radio and/or phone to maintain situational awareness and coordinate responses with Allied Universal leadership and local partners as directed.
