About The Position

The Morgan Library & Museum has immediate openings for Security Officers l. The Security Officer l will patrol on foot and serve in fixed posts (galleries, exhibitions and consoles), under all weather conditions, inside and outside to prevent, detect, and investigate unauthorized intrusion, damage, theft, accidents, and other similar activities. The security guard must be available for emergency situations and overtime duty and must obtain certifications, including the Fire/Life Safety Certificate (FLSD - F-89) from the FDNY, within one year of employment. The position reports to the Chief of Security. The Morgan Library & Museum is committed to diversity and is proud to be an equal opportunity employer.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Minimum of 1-2 years’ experience as a security guard.
  • Possession of a valid NYS security license.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills, and the ability to converse in English.
  • Proficiency with the use of computers and computer applications such as Gmail and MS Office Word.
  • Proficiency in report writing.
  • Ability to properly utilize 2-way portable radios.
  • Ability to render first aid, including CPR as required.
  • Certification or ability to be certified in the use of an AED within one year of employment.
  • Certification or ability to be certified as a Fire Guard (F-03) within one year of employment.
  • Certification or ability to be certified as a FLSD (F-89) within one year of employment.
  • Able to stand and/or walk for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to run for short periods of time.
  • Able to work shifts around the clock.
  • Able to open and close heavy (40lb.) vault doors.
