About The Position
National Grid is seeking a highly competent Security Officer to join our team to monitor our premises and protect our valued staff. As a Security Officer, you will need a sharp eye with quick reaction time in the detection of any suspicious or criminal behavior, and prevention of theft or vandalism. This role involves a specific shift pattern: 3 days on / 3 days off, covering both 5am-5pm and 5pm-5am shifts.
Requirements
- Previous law enforcement experience 15+ years (municipal, state or federal)
- Concealed gun permit for NYC with the ability to carry a firearm
- Able to stand, walk, climb ladders or steps during an 8-hour shift or irregular shift
- Able to lift or carry up to 50 pounds
- Valid US driver’s license required with a safe driving history that meets National Grid’s Safe Driver policy.
- Must pass post-offer hearing and vision assessment
- Will be required to take Fire Brigade training to obtain/maintain LNG certifications
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work without a need for current or future visa sponsorship.
Responsibilities
- Secure our premises and personnel by patrolling property, monitoring surveillance equipment, and access points.
- Investigate security breaches, incidents, and other alarming behavior.
- Guard access points, permitting or refusing entry, restraining trespassers, and direct heavy traffic during start and end of business hours.
- Complete reports by recording observations, information, occurrences, and surveillance activities.
