About The Position

The Security Officer II shall protect Baptist Health patients, employees, and properties by patrolling the facility grounds, responding to emergencies, assisting patients, employees and visitors, controlling vehicular and foot traffic, and operating security CCTV. This position may have additional duties assigned that are within scope of the role.

Requirements

High School graduate or equivalent required
Prior civilian or military law enforcement experience preferred
POST certification or DD-214 required
Annual Firearms qualification with a minimum score of 70% or higher
Valid Alabama Drivers License and acceptable driving record required
Pistol permit required
Ability to work both independently and in a team environment
Ability to foster a cooperative work environment
Ability to effectively communicate with people of various backgrounds throughout the organization
Good oral and written communication skills
Ability to maintain a professional and customer centric composure in difficult or challenging situations
Ability to work from broad directions and be self motivated
Position requires the officer to carry an approved handgun and qualify annually with a proficiency score of 70% or higher
Position requires the officer to wear an approved duty belt with issued equipment each work day for the entirety of the shift
Requires sitting for 15% of the workday and walking 60% of the workday and standing 25% of the workday
Able to run, bend and climb stairs
Frequent use of hands and large muscle groups
Requires frequent lifting or carrying up to 50 pounds, pushing/pulling up to 150 pounds
Continuous visual acuity at close and distant range
