About The Position

The Security Officer II shall protect Baptist Health patients, employees, and properties by patrolling the facility grounds, responding to emergencies, assisting patients, employees and visitors, controlling vehicular and foot traffic, and operating security CCTV. This position may have additional duties assigned that are within scope of the role.

Requirements

High school graduate or equivalent required
POST certification or DD-214 required
Annual Firearms qualification with a minimum score of 70% or higher
Valid Alabama Drivers License and acceptable driving record required
Pistol permit required
Ability to work both independently and in a team environment
Ability to foster a cooperative work environment
Ability to effectively communicate with people of various backgrounds throughout the organization
Good oral and written communication skills
Ability to maintain a professional and customer centric composure in difficult or challenging situations
Ability to work from broad directions and be self motivated

Nice To Haves

Prior civilian or military law enforcement experience preferred

Responsibilities

Carry an approved handgun and qualify annually with a proficiency score of 70% or higher
Wear an approved duty belt with issued equipment each work day for the entirety of the shift
Push disabled vehicles out of traffic
Perform stooping, bending, kneeling, and crouching
Lift or carry up to 50 pounds
Push/pull up to 150 pounds
Speak with clear diction and have hearing sensitivity in conversation either by phone or in person
Maintain visual acuity at close and distant range
Perform computer work
Work in restricted areas occasionally
Perform other duties as assigned by supervision
