About The Position

The Security Department ensures a safe and secure environment for patients, visitors, and staff. Our team monitors access points, patrols grounds, and responds to emergencies while supporting hospital policies. Working with local law enforcement and hospital leadership, we provide safety, protection, and assistance with professionalism, compassion, and respect. This role secures premises and personnel by patrolling property; monitoring surveillance equipment; inspecting buildings, equipment, and access points; and permitting entry. The officer prevents losses and damage by reporting irregularities, informing violators of policy and procedures, and restraining trespassers. The role requires keeping the Security supervisor informed of all issues and potential problems, and assisting the supervisor with special and assigned projects such as locks and keys, security assessments, and product reviews. The position requires the ability to perform essential duties with limited supervision and to use non-violent crisis intervention when needed to deal with visitors, patients, families, and employees. The role may deal with patients and customers in all age categories from infant to geriatric.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent GED
  • Valid driver’s license (no violations for 2 years)
  • Ability to achieve Basic Life Support, BLS certification within 30 days of hire
  • Must obtain Taser/CEW, De-Escalation, Handcuffing, Defensive tactics within 6 months
  • Certified Healthcare Security officer (CHSO) with International Association of Healthcare Security and Safety certification within one year of employment.
