Under the direction of the Torrance Memorial Medical Center Security Shift Supervisor, the Security Officer I is responsible for providing a safe and secure environment as possible for quality patient care by performing patrol, customer service, and emergency response functions. This role involves answering questions, giving directions, conducting inquiries, broadcasting and receiving radio messages, observing parking activity, taking accurate field notes, preparing legible and complete reports, providing a visible deterrence to crime, responding quickly and calmly to emergent and non-emergent situations, reporting safety and fire hazards, providing escort services, responding to various codes, performing specialized duties such as patient stand-bys, conducting foot patrols of the interior and exterior of the medical center and parking areas, controlling and monitoring traffic, assisting law enforcement, enforcing parking policies, maintaining traffic control in the emergency department, inspecting outgoing parcels, transporting deceased patients, and completing all duties in accordance with the Security Department's "Policy and Procedures" manual. The role also requires completing compliance, regulatory, or mandated training within a maximum of two attempts and being responsible for knowing the information in various security-related documents.
