About The Position

Under the direct supervision of the Safety and Security Coordinator, the Security Officer/GA is responsible for maintaining a safe and orderly atmosphere in the building, including screening individuals entering the building, discouraging physical violence of any kind and monitoring consumer and visitor activity. This role is responsible for carrying out all activities of the program/sub-unit in such a manner that fulfills CMHA-CEI’s mission, policies and procedures.

Requirements

Possession of a high school diploma or G.E.D.
Ability to provide crisis intervention as needed (Therapeutic Options A & Therapeutic Options B on an Emergency basis).
Physically able to do lifting and transferring of physically impaired consumers according to approved agency policies/procedures.
Ability to lift, transport and/or physically manage consumers that vary in weight and size, minimally fifty (50) pounds.
Ability to stand and walk for long periods of time.
Ability to re-certify in CPR/First Aide each year following employment.
Ability to communicate accurately and effectively both in writing and verbally.
Possession of a valid Michigan Driver's License.
Access to reliable means of transportation for job related use.
May be required to perform job functions at other CMHA-CEI work sites.
Must pass a pre-employment physical exam.
Must pass a pre-employment 5-panel drug screen.
