As a Security Officer - Education Front Desk in New York, NY, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Education, and more. As a Front Desk Security Professional with Allied Universal in an educational setting, you will play a vital role in creating a welcoming environment for all visitors, staff, and students. Your primary responsibilities include monitoring building access, assisting guests, and providing outstanding customer service. By maintaining a visible presence and leveraging technology, you help to deter security-related incidents and contribute to a positive atmosphere rooted in teamwork, integrity, and care.

Requirements

  • Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver's license will be required for driving positions only.

Nice To Haves

  • Access control or badge experience is preferred.
  • Comfortable using a computer or tablet is preferred.
  • Customer service experience is preferred.
  • Ability to lift more than 20 lbs is preferred.
  • A state, county, or city issued security license is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide customer service to clients and visitors by following security-related procedures and site-specific policies at the front desk of an educational location.
  • Monitor access to the facility by greeting and verifying the identification of students, staff, and visitors, and maintaining visitor logs as required.
  • Respond to incidents and critical situations at the front desk in a calm, problem-solving manner, following Allied Universal protocols.
  • Assist with emergency response activities, including communication with building occupants and/or first responders as needed.
  • Observe and report any unusual activity or security-related concerns to the appropriate Allied Universal personnel and/or client representatives.
  • Support the security-related operations of the location by answering phones, managing deliveries, and providing information to visitors as appropriate.
  • Maintain a professional and courteous demeanor at all times while representing Allied Universal at the front desk.
