About The Position

As a Security Officer Shipping Companyh in Detroit, MI, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Logistics & Distribution, and more. Join Allied Universal at a busy logistics and distribution location, where you will help manage access control, monitor assigned areas, and conduct routine patrols while remaining visible to help deter security-related incidents. This is a driving post requiring a valid driver’s license. You will also deliver outstanding customer service and communication, supporting daily operations with agility, reliability, teamwork, and integrity.

Requirements

  • A valid driver’s license is required in accordance with Allied Universal driver policy requirements.
  • Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.

Nice To Haves

  • Customer service experience is preferred.
  • Access control and/or badge experience is preferred.
  • Loss prevention experience is preferred.
  • X-Ray screening experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide customer service to employees, visitors, and/or drivers by carrying out security-related procedures, site-specific policies, and when appropriate, emergency response activities at a busy logistics and distribution location.
  • Monitor access control points by verifying identification, credentials, and/or delivery documentation before allowing entry to authorized personnel, visitors, and vehicles.
  • Respond to incidents, alarms, and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, and report unusual activity, policy violations, and/or access concerns to site leadership.
  • Maintain accurate visitor, contractor, and/or vehicle entry records, issue temporary badges or access credentials, and communicate post instructions with professionalism and courtesy.
  • Conduct regular and random patrols around entry areas, shipping and receiving zones, and the perimeter to help to deter unauthorized access and support site operations.
