About The Position

As a Security Officer - Community Learning Hub, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries. Join Allied Universal as an Unarmed Patrol Officer at a renowned public cultural location, where you will monitor assigned areas, conduct routine patrols, maintain a visible presence to help deter security-related incidents, and support access control activities. Requirements

  • A valid New York State Security Guard License is required.
  • Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.

Nice To Haves

  • Comfortable using a computer or tablet is preferred.
  • Customer service experience is preferred.
  • Access control and/or badge experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide customer service by carrying out security-related procedures, site-specific policies, and/or appropriate emergency response activities for a public-facing location.
  • Respond to incidents, disturbances, and/or critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner while documenting relevant details and reporting concerns to site contacts and Allied Universal leadership.
  • Conduct regular and random patrols throughout reading rooms, common areas, entry points, exterior grounds, and perimeter areas to help to deter unauthorized activity and observe unusual conditions.
  • Monitor visitor activity, assist with access control practices, and communicate professionally with staff, guests, and/or vendors regarding location rules, directions, and reported concerns.
  • Support closing and opening routines, help to identify maintenance or security-related issues, and report hazards, suspicious behavior, and/or policy violations according to post instructions.
