As an Armed Patrol Officer with Allied Universal at a government corrections location, you will conduct routine patrols, maintain a visible presence to help to deter security-related incidents, and respond to issues with clear communication and professionalism. This post requires a valid driver’s license and meets AU Driver Policy Requirements, as well as comfort working an armed assignment. Requirements

  • Be at least 21 years of age.
  • A valid driver’s license is required in accordance with Allied Universal driver policy requirements.
  • An armed guard card or license is preferred.
  • Be at least 21 years of age for armed roles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws. Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Participate in industry-specific security training programs.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.

Responsibilities

  • Provide customer service to staff, visitors, and contractors at a government corrections location by following site-specific security-related procedures, access requirements, and post orders.
  • Conduct armed foot and/or vehicle patrols of buildings, grounds, and perimeter areas, checking doors, gates, and restricted zones to help reduce unauthorized access and other security-related issues.
  • Monitor and report unusual activity, disturbances, and potential threats; respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner and request additional support as needed.
  • Control entry and exit points by verifying identification, authorizations, and deliveries; screen prohibited items per policy and document refusals or exceptions.
  • Complete detailed written reports and logs, preserve observations and evidence when directed, and coordinate with Allied Universal leadership and on-site officials during routine operations and emergency response activities.
