About The Position

Sentara Health is hiring a Security Officer Armed - Recruit for Sentara Norfolk General Hospital, in Norfolk, VA. This is a Full-Time position with an evening shift schedule. The Security Officer Armed Recruit role is a role designated for newly hired Security Officers while preparing for successful transition to an Armed Officer role. During the transition period of 120 days all training and required certifications will be completed to allow them to progress to an Armed Security Officer role. The primary function of this transitional role is to further develop the necessary skills, training, and certifications required to carry a weapon and function as a fully Armed Security Officer. An offer of employment for a Security Officer Armed Recruit is contingent on passing the pre-employment screening process, which includes a fitness assessment and psychological evaluation. Once the preemployment process is cleared and employment has begun, incumbents will have 120 days to successfully complete and obtain other job specific certifications, as defined in the job profile. Failure to obtain these certifications within the prescribed timeframe will result in termination of employment. Annual fitness assessment is required, and psychological evaluations are required every 3 years as a condition of continued employment in this position.

Requirements

High School Diploma or equivalent
State DMV Motor Vehicle Record and current Valid Driver’s license
Ability to pass pre-employment screening, including fitness assessment and psychological evaluation.
Ability to obtain job-specific certifications within 120 days of employment.
Ability to pass annual fitness assessment.
Ability to pass psychological evaluations every 3 years.
