About The Position

Sentara Health is hiring a Security Officer Armed - Recruit for Sentara Port Warwick in Newport News, VA. This is a Full-Time position with a rotating schedule. The Security Officer Armed Recruit role is a role designated for newly hired Security Officers while preparing for successful transition to an Armed Officer role. During the transition period of 120 days all training and required certifications will be completed to allow them to progress to an Armed Security Officer role. The primary function of this transitional role is to further develop the necessary skills, training, and certifications required to carry a weapon and function as a fully Armed Security Officer.

Requirements

High School Diploma or equivalent
State DMV Motor Vehicle Record and current Valid Driver’s license
Pass pre-employment screening process, which includes a fitness assessment and psychological evaluation.

1 year of security, military or police experience

Responsibilities

Complete all training and required certifications within 120 days to progress to an Armed Security Officer role.
Develop necessary skills, training, and certifications required to carry a weapon and function as a fully Armed Security Officer.
Pass annual fitness assessment.
Undergo psychological evaluations every 3 years.
Be flexible to start and to move to a regular schedule.
