As a Security Officer Enhanced Part Time Armed DCJS Patrol in Reston, VA, this role is designed to provide reliable, consistent hours at an assigned site with the flexibility for you to earn more by picking-up additional shifts when it works for you.

Requirements

  • Possess at least two years of security-related experience.
  • Possess an armed guard card or license.
  • Possess a Virginia DCJS license.
  • Be at least 21 years of age for armed roles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Participate in industry-specific security training programs.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with handcuffs, pepper spray, and baton is preferred.
  • Ability to lift up to 20 pounds is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide customer service to patients, visitors, staff, and vendors while carrying out site-specific security-related procedures, policies, and emergency response activities.
  • Conduct regular and random armed patrols throughout healthcare facilities, parking areas, entrances, and surrounding perimeters, reporting unusual conditions and potential concerns.
  • Respond to incidents, alarms, medical-related emergencies, and critical situations in a calm, professional, problem-solving manner, following established post orders and escalation procedures.
  • Monitor access points and assist with visitor, employee, and vendor access in accordance with facility policies while helping to deter unauthorized activity.
  • Prepare clear, accurate reports documenting patrols, incidents, observations, and actions taken, and communicate relevant information to appropriate personnel.
