Requirements

  • Possess an Armed Guard Card or License.
  • Have at least 6 months of armed security-related, law enforcement, or military experience.
  • Be at least 21 years of age.
  • A valid driver’s license is required in accordance with Allied Universal driver policy requirements.
  • Be at least 21 years of age for armed roles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Participate in industry-specific security training programs.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.

Responsibilities

  • Provide customer service to staff, visitors, and authorized personnel at a government corrections location by carrying out security-related procedures, site-specific policies, and emergency response activities as appropriate.
  • Conduct regular and random armed patrols of assigned buildings, grounds, access points, parking areas, and perimeter areas to help identify and report unusual activity, hazards, and policy violations.
  • Monitor access control points, verify authorization for entry, and maintain awareness of movement throughout assigned areas in accordance with site procedures.
  • Respond to incidents, alarms, and critical situations in a calm, professional, problem-solving manner, following established protocols and communicating with appropriate personnel.
  • Prepare clear, accurate reports and maintain required activity logs, incident documentation, and records in accordance with Allied Universal and site-specific requirements.
