About The Position

As a Security Officer Area Patrol Officer in Jamaica, NY, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Shelter, and more. Requirements

• Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
• Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
• Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
• Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
• A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.

Responsibilities

• Provide customer service to residents, staff, and visitors by carrying out security-related procedures, site-specific policies, and/or appropriate emergency response activities at the shelter location.
• Respond to incidents, disturbances, and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, and document observations and actions according to site protocols.
• Conduct regular and random patrols throughout the facility, common areas, and perimeter to help to deter unwanted activity and report unusual conditions.
• Monitor entrances, exits, and authorized access points, verify permissions as directed, and communicate with staff regarding security-related concerns and/or resident assistance needs.
• Support day-to-day order at the location by following post instructions, assisting with de-escalation when appropriate, and reporting maintenance, life, and/or property concerns to the proper contacts.
