As an Access Control Officer at a government location, you will help manage entry points, verify credentials, monitor access activity, and provide outstanding customer service to visitors and personnel. You will use computer or tablet systems to support badge and access processes while maintaining a visible presence that helps deter security-related incidents. Requirements

  • Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.

Nice To Haves

  • CPR and First Aid certification is preferred.
  • Customer service experience is preferred.
  • Access control and badge experience is preferred.
  • Comfort using a computer or tablet is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide customer service to authorized personnel, visitors, vendors, and/or drivers while carrying out security-related procedures, site-specific policies, and when appropriate, emergency response activities at a government maritime transportation location.
  • Control access to facilities, terminals, restricted areas, and/or other designated locations by verifying credentials, visitor authorization, and entry requirements in accordance with site-specific policies.
  • Monitor access points, visitor activity, alarm systems, cameras, and/or communications equipment; report unusual conditions, unauthorized access attempts, and security-related concerns to appropriate personnel.
  • Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, following established reporting and emergency response procedures.
  • Conduct regular and random patrols of assigned access points, facilities, grounds, and perimeter areas to help to deter unauthorized activity; working environments and conditions may vary by location.
