About The Position

Security Officer 1 is part of the Protective Force team within the Safeguards & Security group, Operational Systems Directorate at Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL). The Protective Force safeguards national security assets, government property, and personnel, and operates the Security Operations Center as PNNL’s central point for security monitoring, incident reporting, and response. The SO provides first aid and emergency response; conducts roving vehicle and foot patrols; responds to alarms (unarmed); and performs facility checks and inspections. The SO serves as the single point of contact in the Security Operations Center for all PNNL emergencies, providing timely support, coordinating dispatch, and triaging safety and security events. The SO may also oversee daily shift operations and personnel, including activities at designated Protective Force posts.

Requirements

  • High school diploma/GED or higher
  • U.S. Citizenship
  • Valid state-issued driver's license
  • Applicants must possess mental, sensory, and motor skills, and be medically fit, as required to safely and effectively perform all normal and emergency response job duties.
  • Applicants must meet the requirements set forth in Title 10, Code of Federal Regulations, Part 1046 (10 CFR 1046): Medical, Physical Readiness, Training, and Performance Tests for Security Officers.
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment (and biennially thereafter) physical and psychological exam per 10 Code of Federal Regulation part 1046.
  • Applicants must be able to perform and pass the DOE and PNNL Protective Forces Training Program.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior military or law enforcement experience.
  • Previously held U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) L or Q clearance, or U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) Secret or Top Secret (S/TS) clearance.
  • Prior experience as a 9-1-1 dispatcher or in a high-volume call center.
