Requirements

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Tribal Gaming License
  • High school diploma and 3-5 years of gaming and hotel security experience, including at least 2 years in a supervisory or lead role, or equivalent combination.
  • Florida State "D" Unarmed Security Officer License required.
  • Florida State "G" Firearms Security Officer License required.
  • Obtain a First Aid/AED Certification required.
  • Possess a valid driver's license and have acceptable driving history as determined by Miccosukee Tribe of Indians of Florida
  • Strong computer skills, including report writing, scheduling systems, and incident tracking software.
  • Working knowledge of local, State, Federal and Gaming related laws and regulations.
  • Effective communication skills required. English required, bilingual preferred.
  • Basic math skills required.
  • Must be available to work all shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Maintain physical stamina and proper mental attitude while dealing effectively with guests, management, team members, and outside contacts while working under pressure and meeting deadlines
  • Must be able to frequently move freely about the property, maintain manual dexterity to operate job related equipment, such as telephones, copiers, etc., withstand various activities such as frequent walking, sitting for long periods and withstand prolonged standing, stretching, bending and kneeling without restriction
  • Be able to work indoors and be exposed to various environmental contaminants including smoke
  • Ability to lift or carry a minimum of 20 pounds unassisted in the performance of specific tasks assigned
  • Must be able to work with others, communicate well, give direction, review the work of others, and provide guidance and counsel when needed to achieve department goals and objectives
  • Must maintain a positive attitude toward work and interface with hotel guests in a congenial and polite manner
  • Must be able to address stressful situations with clients with dignity and the utmost tact and politeness
  • Must be able to touch and handle supplies in a safe and non-hazardous manner, maintaining proper hygiene, cleanliness, and disposal methods
  • Able to lift/move approximately 25lbs.
  • Professionally trained in active shooter response and emergency incident management, with experience coordinating evacuation procedures, threat assessments, crisis communication, and collaboration with local law enforcement and first responders.
  • Skilled at conducting security risk assessments, developing emergency preparedness plans, and leading regular drills to improve organizational readiness.

Responsibilities

  • Manages the daily operations and staffing of the Security Department on assigned shifts, and assumes departmental responsibility in the absence of the Security Director.
  • Executes the operational goals established by the Security Director, tracks performance against those goals, and reports results and recommendations to the Director.
  • Ensures customer service standards are followed by all team members and addresses issues as they arise, escalating to the Director when appropriate.
  • Prepares and maintains documentation of Risk Management related incidents and supports the evaluation process.
  • Recommend changes or revisions to operating practices, procedures and standards based on observed trends, and implement approved revisions across the shift.
  • Provides for the safety of team members including keeping areas free of safety hazards, debris, and litter, and conducting routine property inspections and patrols.
  • Identifies opportunities for security operations improvements within the Resort and Gaming areas and presents them to the Security Director.
  • Ensures emergency response policies are understood and correctly carried out by all Security team members and serves as an on-scene incident commander during emergencies until relieved.
  • Coordinates with Gaming Surveillance, public law enforcement, fire and other agencies during incidents on assigned shifts, maintaining a positive and constructive relationship.
  • Conducts, supervises and prepares reports relating to investigations of any losses or violations of law, regulations, policies or procedures, and reviews reports submitted by Supervisors and Officers for accuracy and completeness.
  • Testifies in court when necessary.
  • Builds and adjusts shift schedules, monitors attendance and overtime, and ensures adequate coverage across the property.
  • Trains, coaches, evaluates and develops Security Supervisors and Security Officers; administers coaching and disciplinary action in accordance with Merit System Policies.
  • Verifies that all Security team members maintain required licensing and certifications, including "D" and "G" licenses and First Aid/AED.
  • Protects and preserves the assets of the Miccosukee Resort and Gaming, The Miccosukee Tribe of Indians of Florida, and its Facilities.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
