About The Position

Avalon Health Care is hiring for a Security/Maintenance position at the E. Roy Stone, Jr. Veterans Pavilion. This facility will transfer to the SC Department of Veteran Affairs from the SC Department of Mental Health on July 1 and will be operated by Avalon Health Care, a company experienced in the long-term care needs of Veterans. The role is responsible for keeping the facility safe and problem-free.

Responsibilities

  • Patrol premises regularly to maintain order and establish presence.
  • Monitor and authorize entrance of vehicles or people in the property.
  • Remove wrongdoers or trespassers from the area.
  • Secure all exits, doors and windows after end of operations.
  • Check surveillance cameras periodically to identify disruptions or unlawful acts.
  • Investigate people for suspicious activity or possessions.
  • Respond to alarms by investigating and assessing the situation.
  • Provide assistance to people in need.
  • Apprehend and detain perpetrators according to legal protocol before arrival of authorities.
  • Submit reports of daily surveillance activity and important occurrences.
  • Maintain Building grounds in a safe, workable condition.
  • Provide compassionate resident care services.
  • Establish and maintain positive interactions with internal and external customers, including co-workers.
  • Promptly respond to call lights.
  • Knows Resident Rights.
  • Helps the residents/residents exercise and/or protect their rights.
  • Reports resident/resident complaints to management.
  • Maintains confidentiality of resident/resident information.
  • Understand, comply with and promote all rules and regulations regarding residents’ rights.
  • Support resident autonomy and choice.
  • Promote a restraint-free environment.
  • Follows and adheres to Facility’s policies and procedures implementing HIPAA requirements for the privacy and security of protected health information.
  • Uses and/or discloses only minimum amount of Protected Health Information necessary to complete assigned tasks.
  • Reports all suspected violation of company’s HIPAA policies or procedures to Facility Privacy Designee.
  • Participate in facility/department in-services and quality improvement activities.
  • Attend continuing education programs.
  • Attend facility/department/staff meetings as required.
  • Knows and follows all Company policies, regulations and requirements.
  • Demonstrate safe practices in regard to resident's comfort and safety by applying knowledge of proper body alignment for self and resident.
  • Practice and promote adherence to institutional safety codes.
  • Follows facility dress and hygiene policies.
  • Demonstrates proper use of equipment.
  • Reports equipment needs or repairs.
  • Follows facility smoking policies.
  • Reports and documents any incidents or accidents of residents, staff or visitors to the appropriate facility personnel.
  • Reports all hazardous conditions/equipment to Supervisor.
  • Performs duties, which may include transportation of residents, as assigned in Facility Disaster Plan.
  • Uses required protective equipment.
  • Follows infection control standards, policies and procedures.
  • Must adhere to Code of Conduct and Business Ethics policy, including documentation and reporting responsibilities.
  • Participate in Quality Improvement activities as assigned.
