About The Position

St. Luke's is seeking a Security/Maintenance Associate to perform general maintenance and security duties. This role involves responding to security alerts, fires, and disasters to protect staff, visitors, patients, and property. The position is full-time with day shifts and is located at the St. Luke's Anderson Campus, which is undergoing a significant expansion to become a state-of-the-art Heart Hospital opening in Fall 2026. This expansion includes a new Heart Hospital with 150 inpatient beds, 10 operating rooms, and 10 interventional suites. The Anderson campus is a nationally recognized teaching hospital and a designated 100 Top Hospital, home to a Trauma Center and advanced tertiary obstetrics program. Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent certificate (G.E.D.).
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license (based on state of residence).
  • Experience in security/security-related fields and customer service is preferred.
  • Mechanical ability related to various trades is preferred.
  • General knowledge of commercial building maintenance is preferred.
  • Frequent climbing, stooping, crouching, kneeling, reaching and standing.
  • Must be able to walk up to ½ mile to job assignments and run to respond to emergency situations.
  • Must frequently talk to employees and non-employees about work-related issues.
  • Occasionally must sit, crawl, push objects of various weight and material, balance body, finger and grasp.
  • Must be able to lift, push, pull and/or carry up to 100 pounds.
  • Must be able to hear alarms and verbal orders.
  • Must be able to see to use equipment, tools, prints and diagrams.
  • Must be able to smell for possible maintenance problems.
  • Must be able to feel equipment, tools and determine problems.
  • Must be able to work alone and/or with others.
  • Must be able to work in confined spaces.
  • Must be able to withstand varied temperature changes.
  • Must be able to feel vibrations for possible maintenance problems.

  • Trade School Certificate preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Patrols hospital property to ensure the safety of patients, visitors, and employees.
  • Handles and monitors patients exhibiting violent behavior.
  • Investigates security-related incidents and documents findings.
  • Documents and maintains a daily report of activities.
  • Locks and unlocks various buildings around the hospital campus.
  • Participates in fire and disaster response teams.
  • Enforces the hospital parking policy.
  • Responds to agitation/violent behavior requiring verbal de-escalation and/or physical restraint.
  • Performs hazardous patient decontamination procedures, including identifying hazards, selecting PPE, setting up decontamination systems, removing contaminated clothing, and containing contaminated wastes.
  • Works independently in a safe and appropriate manner.
  • Demonstrates problem-solving and problem-prevention skills.
  • Installs, repairs, and maintains various parts and components of equipment within the facilities.
  • Performs preventative maintenance checks and inspections on all equipment.
  • Possesses knowledge of general commercial building maintenance.
