About The Position

Orlando Health Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Security Lieutenant to join their esteemed team. This 156-bed pediatric hospital, located in the heart of Orlando's downtown campus, has been providing compassionate care to children, teenagers, and young adults for over 30 years. The Security Lieutenant provides for the protection and security of hospital assets and for the patients, visitors, and guests. Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children has earned numerous accolades, including recognition as a "Best Children’s Hospitals" by U.S. News & World Report for 14 consecutive years and a Top Children’s Hospital by the Leapfrog Group. The hospital also holds Magnet® Recognition for nursing excellence and quality patient care and has several units with Beacon Awards for Excellence. Their pediatric Level I Trauma Center and ER is the only Central Florida facility providing the highest level of emergency trauma care exclusively to children, and it is the only facility in Florida to achieve Level I Children’s Surgical Verification and Level I Trauma Verification by the American College of Surgeons.

Requirements

  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Word for report writing purposes.
  • Must obtain a State of Florida Class “D” Security Officer License through the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services within 120 days of hire which must be renewed biannually before the license expires.
  • Must obtain Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) Certification within 120 days of hire which must be renewed annually before the certification expires.
  • Must obtain a Basic Security Officer Certification or higher level of certification through the International Association of Hospital Security and Safety within 120 days of hire and always maintained during employment.
  • Two (2) years security experience, to include one (1) year supervisory or leadership experience.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain order, discipline, and security within assigned areas in the absence of the shift Captain.
  • Assists with the training of new officers and on-going training for current officers.
  • Provides input to the Captain for Security Officers’ performance reviews.
  • Communicates proper information regarding patient or non-patient needs to security team members.
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
  • Maintains reasonably regular, punctual attendance consistent with Orlando Health policies, the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards.
  • Maintains compliance with all Orlando Health policies and procedures
