About The Position

The Security Investigator directly assists with all investigations including incidents of workplace violence, and provides assistance with training and other administrative functions within the department as they work with the Security Administrative/Training Lieutenant. The Security Investigator reviews all security reports and manages the camera system. The Security Investigator is responsible for keeping accurate crime logs for Clery reporting and handles Subpoenas for the department as well as ensuring that management is made aware of significant issues in a timely manner.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/G.E.D. - required
  • Excellent computer skills and knowledge of windows-based software required.
  • Experience with CCTV and access control software required.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills are required.
  • Must possess good judgement, emotional control, objectivity and sounds decision-making skills
  • Ability to work independently
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure in emergency situations and when dealing with uncertainty.
  • Must possess effective report writing skills.
  • Must be able to perform the essential duties of the position without or with reasonable accommodation.
  • Ability to coordinate efforts and communicate effectively with all hospital and college constituencies and to provide leadership that assures an efficient security function.
  • Valid NYS Drivers License - required
  • NYS Security Guard Registration - required

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice or related field - preferred
  • 7-9 years as a detective/investigator with a public law enforcement agency - preferred
  • 1-3 years in a hospital environment - preferred
  • Professional Certified Investigator - preferred
  • Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Responsibilities

  • Assists with management and/or investigation of significant incidents, including suspicious and/or unlawful activity, employee misconduct, breaches of AMC policies and procedures, facility matters and various other issues requiring closer examination.
  • Assesses incident, violence and other reports and determines action(s) to be taken.
  • Prepares detailed reports documenting findings and related recommendations.
  • Prepares briefing material for security leadership
  • Operates the video surveillance system (Cathexis), including analysis and preparation of video used for investigative purposes and as evidence.
  • Handles the processing and follow up associated with lost or found property reports.
  • Ensures compliance with AMC policies and practices, as well as "DNV" standards.
  • Makes presentations (i.e., security services in-service training).
  • Communicates all significant incidents to Security Services administrators.
  • Performs other duties as directed by Security Services administrators.
