About The Position

The Security Intern will join Docusign’s AI and Data Security team to help secure the next generation of its intelligent agreement management platform. The internship combines AI and data security, with work focused on protecting AI-powered solutions and the business-critical data that supports them. The intern will work alongside senior leaders and engineers to develop and implement secure-by-design frameworks for AI development pipelines, improve security tooling, and test AI-powered tools and models for vulnerabilities.

The intern will own a core project in either AI Security Tooling or AI Offensive Security, taking it from scoping through stakeholder handoff. This is a three-month individual-contributor internship reporting to the Sr. Director, AI & Data Security. The position is hybrid, with a minimum expectation of two in-office days per week, which may vary by team.

Requirements

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Engineering, Cybersecurity, or a related field, with an expected graduation date of December 2027 or May/June 2028.
• Demonstrated development experience in one or more of Python (preferred), Java, or C#.
• Experience with common AI/ML security threats, such as prompt injection, adversarial attacks, data poisoning, or model inversion.
• Experience in AI automation, system integrations, and/or offensive security testing methodologies.
• Experience with data loss prevention (DLP) and data security posture management (DSPM).
• Must already be authorized to work in the United States on a full-time, permanent basis without current or future visa sponsorship or immigration support; the role is not eligible for CPT, OPT, or sponsorship.

Nice To Haves

• Hands-on experience with red teaming, penetration testing, CTFs, or bug bounty programs, especially involving LLMs or AI applications.
• Experience building with LLM APIs, AI agents, or automation frameworks.
• Experience with AWS, Azure, or GCP and interest in securing cloud-based AI deployments.
• Understanding of the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) and CI/CD best practices.
• Clear, concise, and articulate communication in speech and writing.
• Enthusiasm for exploring new attack methodologies and security solutions for AI/ML systems.

Responsibilities

• Support optimization of security tooling, including AI guardrails, and evaluate how traditional security controls integrate with AI-focused protections.
• Participate in testing new AI models and tools, identifying, validating, and helping remediate vulnerabilities in partnership with Engineering, Product, and Legal stakeholders.
• Map current security workflows, identify improvement opportunities, and build automation or agentic solutions to scale the program.
• Create and maintain documentation covering completed testing, methodologies, and identified vulnerabilities.
• Track security KPIs using a data-driven approach; design test cases and validation plans; and build documentation and dashboards to communicate program impact to leadership.
• Share progress at an organization-wide Security Demo and present the final project, recommendations, and business impact to stakeholders.
• Own a core project in either AI Security Tooling or AI Offensive Security, from scoping through stakeholder handoff.
