About The Position

This position will be responsible for the installation of complex integrated security systems to include the wiring, equipment and programming of access control systems, CCTV, digital recorders, network recorders, and intercom systems for clients. The role involves installing cabling, field equipment, and control equipment enclosures in customer locations according to the national electric code, company, and customer guidelines. The installer will use electronic test equipment to troubleshoot complicated problems during installation, read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, submittits, specifications, software/systems programs, schematics, and operational product manuals. Responsibilities also include readjusting equipment, repairing or replacing inoperative equipment, testing for operation, and performing system checks. The role requires knowledge of computer programs including word processing, spreadsheets, and databases; CCTV and access control systems; and media storage. The ability to plan, organize, and prioritize work with close attention to detail, communicate effectively orally and in writing, and establish cooperative working relationships is essential. The installer must be able to analyze information, work unsupervised, be self-motivated, and complete all necessary job-related paperwork. Additionally, the role involves feeding cables through various spaces, positioning and terminating cables, drilling holes for wiring, and conducting end-user training. Troubleshooting issues with customer networks is also a part of the job.

Requirements

High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
Significant background (5+ year experience) in Commercial Fire Alarm Systems.
Significant background (5+ year experience) in Commercial Digital & Analog Camera Systems.
Significant background (5+ year experience) in Commercial Access Control Systems.
Understanding of the function and design of Alarm Systems.
Experience with IP addressable security devices (2+ years).
Must be computer literate to include advanced TCP/IP networking skills.
Required to participate in After-Hour On-Call Rotation.
Must be able to operate a company truck with an acceptable driving record.
Proficient with all aspects and operation of ADT A.I. core card access, CCTV systems.
Proficient with NFPA Code and National electric Code (NEC).

Nice To Haves

Associate Degree or 2-year technical school program graduate preferred.
An industry-recognized apprentice training program may be substituted for the formal education requirement.
NICET I, II (preferred), or III.
Any Town Fire Alarm Listed Agent Certifications.
Specialized training/certification in Access Control (at least 3 certifications from the following: Prowatch, Kantech, Access C-Cure 800 or C-Cure 9000, Casi- Facility Commander or Picture Perfect or Secure Perfect).
Specialized training/certification in CCTV- Analog (at least 1 certification from the following: Bosch, Ademco/Honeywell Security, DSC, DMP Security / Access / Fire, Fire Lite, Notifier, Gamewell / FCI, Edwards, Simplex / AutoCall, Pelco, American Dynamics).
Specialized training/certification in CCTV- IP (at least 1 certification from the following: Genetec - Access / CCTV, Indigo Vision, Speco, CCTC, Exaqvision).
Experience in Visitor Management (preferred: Honeywell Lobby Works, Stopware Access Sentry).
Additional experience a plus: MCSE, CCNA, Surveillance Systems, Intrusion Detection Systems, Perimeter Intrusion Detection Systems and Security Gate Operators.

Responsibilities

Installation of complex integrated security systems including wiring, equipment, and programming of access control systems, CCTV, digital recorders, network recorders, and intercom systems.
Install cabling, field equipment, and control equipment enclosures in customer locations according to national electric code, company, and customer guidelines.
Use electronic test equipment to troubleshoot complicated problems during installation.
Read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, submittals, specifications, software/systems programs, schematics, and operational product manuals.
Readjust equipment, repair or replace inoperative equipment, and test for operation.
Perform system checks for proper operation.
Plan, organize, and prioritize work paying close attention to details.
Communicate effectively, orally and in writing, while establishing and maintaining cooperative working relationships.
Analyze information.
Work unsupervised to complete installation jobs and be self-motivated to complete jobs.
Complete and submit all necessary paperwork related to job assignments.
Feed cables through access holes, roof spaces, and cavity walls to reach fixture outlets; then position and terminate cables, wires, and strapping.
Drill holes for wiring in wall studs, joists, ceilings, and floors.
Conduct End-User training.
Isolate trouble to a customer network, where applicable.
