About The Position

The Massachusetts Judiciary is seeking an experienced Security Infrastructure Architect to lead the architecture, engineering, implementation, and modernization of enterprise physical security systems across court facilities throughout the Commonwealth. This position serves as the lead architect and technical authority for integrated courthouse security infrastructure initiatives, responsible for designing resilient, scalable, and secure physical security environments that support courthouse safety, operational continuity, and long-term modernization efforts. The ideal candidate combines strong hands-on technical expertise with strategic architecture capabilities and experience operating within complex, mission-critical environments such as courts, public safety agencies, law enforcement, corrections, or other highly secure government organizations.

Requirements

  • Six (6) years of experience working with enterprise electronic security systems, physical security infrastructure, or integrated security technology environments.
  • 2 or more years of experience serving in a lead technical, engineering, architectural, or project leadership role.
  • Experience with enterprise physical security platforms including access control systems, video management systems, intrusion detection systems, or related integrated security technologies.
  • Experience with server, database, networked, or IP-based security system environments.
  • Experience leading or coordinating technical teams, contractors, vendors, or field implementation personnel.
  • Associate’s degree in electronics, engineering technology, computer systems, construction management, or related field; or equivalent combination of education, certifications, technical training, and professional experience.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with technical staff, operational stakeholders, vendors, and executive leadership.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the architecture, design, implementation, and modernization of enterprise physical security infrastructure systems across statewide court facilities.
  • Serve as the primary technical authority for integrated security systems including: Video Management Systems (VMS), Access Control Systems (ACS), Intrusion Detection Systems (IDS), Duress and panic alarm systems.
  • Design and manage highly available security applications, server, and database environments.
  • Lead complex security infrastructure projects from planning and design through deployment, commissioning, testing, and operational turnover.
  • Develop and maintain infrastructure standards, system configurations, architecture documentation, technical operating procedures, and support documentation.
  • Architect secure and resilient environments through system hardening, redundancy, disaster recovery planning, and lifecycle management.
  • Collaborate with vendors, consultants, contractors, facilities teams, security personnel, and IT leadership to deliver integrated security solutions.
  • Provide technical leadership and oversight for internal field teams and contracted implementation resources.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable NEC, NFPA, building, egress, life safety, and security-related standards and regulations.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex infrastructure, networking, hardware, software, and application issues within production environments.
  • Support long-term strategic planning for courthouse security technology modernization initiatives.
  • Provide technical mentoring, knowledge transfer, and training to operational staff and system stakeholders.
  • Participate in incident response, disaster recovery exercises, operational continuity planning, and emergency response activities.
  • Coordinate and oversee system commissioning, acceptance testing, and final operational turnover activities for capital projects.
