About The Position

The Security Guard position at Globe Campus is a part-time role responsible for maintaining the safety and security of the campus. This involves performing general physical activities, assessing environmental security issues, and responding effectively to various situations. The role requires performing duties with intermittent direct supervision and some independent decision-making, often as the sole provider on site. Responsibilities include securing buildings and property, responding to alarms and disturbances, circulating among campus users to preserve order, and assisting visitors. The guard will also be responsible for calling emergency services, responding to medical emergencies with basic first aid, and documenting shift activities and any unusual occurrences.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Basic first aid or other emergency response training.
  • Ability to pass a background screening process and/or obtain a Level 1 Fingerprint Clearance Card is necessary.
  • Ability to perform general physical activities that require use of arms and/or legs and whole-body movement such as lifting, balancing, walking, running, stooping, carrying objects and handling tools and materials.
  • Ability to assess the environment, identify potential security issues, and respond efficiently and effectively in a variety of situations that may include moderate to high levels of stress.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience within a security or peace officer environment.
  • Well-developed people skills and the ability to react calmly and effectively in stressful situations.
  • Familiarity with and understanding of safe work practices particularly when performing general physical activities.

Responsibilities

  • Lock and unlock doors and gates of entrances and exits to secure buildings and property as needed.
  • Answer alarms and investigate disturbances discovered or reported.
  • Circulate among students, community members, visitors, and employees to preserve order and protect property.
  • Respond to requests for assistance as appropriate to maintain the safety and security of campus visitors.
  • Call police or fire departments in cases of emergency such as fire or the presence of unauthorized persons.
  • Respond to medical emergencies by administering basic first aid and/or by obtaining assistance from emergency medical personnel.
  • Write reports of shift activities and irregularities such as equipment or property damage, theft, or other unusual occurrences.
  • Perform similar duties not specifically listed as directed.
