About The Position

The Security Guard is responsible for monitoring the facility and approving access to visitors, guests, and employees who need to enter the building. This role involves various duties depending on the specific post, including managing access at the main gate, patrolling parking and restricted areas, and controlling traffic within hangars. The guard must record work time, comply with company policies and safety procedures, and take prudent actions to preserve company and customer assets. They are also expected to attend training and perform other assigned tasks.

Requirements

  • Able to communicate effectively verbally and in writing in standard English.
  • Able to comprehend and follow instructions.
  • Able to interface in a professional and pleasant manner with other AAR Aircraft Services - Miami, Inc., employees at all levels and with customers as required.
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required.
  • Minimum of 1 year related experience and/or training.
  • Must be available to work flexible shifts and days off.
  • Must be able to move about as needed.
  • Able to sit, stand, bend, reach and move about the facility.
  • Commitment to company values and ethics.
  • Dependability: personally responsible, completes work in a timely manner, and performs tasks accurately.
  • Must maintain a positive attitude and strong work energy.
  • Excellent interpersonal and oral and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Approving access to visitors, guests, and employees through the main gate.
  • Signing in deliveries and notifying the patrol guard before allowing access to the Shipping/Receiving area.
  • Monitoring access to the east parking lot and on-base parking area.
  • Requesting proper picture ID from visitors at the main gate.
  • Issuing leasehold badges from the main gate.
  • Monitoring the badge reader inside the gatehouse for employee access.
  • Checking toolboxes when a new employee brings in their tools.
  • Patrolling all parking areas outside the facility.
  • Ensuring all vehicles are parked in designated areas and not alongside the fence.
  • Overseeing Shipping/Receiving areas when the gate is opening or closing.
  • Being present at the turnstiles during shift change, breaks, and when employees are exiting/entering.
  • Patrolling the 2nd floor after hours to ensure all doors are locked.
  • Patrolling the east side of the building.
  • Controlling access and traffic in the hangar.
  • Patrolling the east/west side of the building via golf cart.
  • Challenging any persons or vehicles entering the hangar area and requesting to see ID.
  • Logging in all deliveries and visitors who enter/exit the hangar area.
  • Ensuring all employees or visitors have an MIA badge or leasehold before crossing the red line in front of hangar doors.
  • Recording work time as directed by the supervisor.
  • Complying with all AAR Aircraft Services - Miami, Inc. policies and procedures.
  • Complying with all safety procedures.
  • Keeping informed of policies and procedures and seeking clarification when needed.
  • Taking prudent actions to preserve Company and/or customer assets.
  • Attending work-related training as scheduled.
  • Performing other tasks as reasonably assigned by the supervisor.
  • Performing all other duties as assigned.
