Commissionaires Great Lakes (CGL) is a private, not-for-profit organization founded in 1925. CGL prioritizes providing meaningful employment for veterans and others committed to the well-being of Canadians, primarily in security guard and related services. Spanning Central and Southwestern Ontario, CGL offers customized services to meet the evolving security needs of public and private sector clients, including uniformed guard, mobile response and support services, by-law enforcement, and identification services. This posting is for an existing vacancy for a Commissionaire to join their growing team. The role requires a commitment to serving client and employee needs to enhance organizational success.

Requirements

Ontario Secondary School Diploma
MUST Ontario Security Guard License
MUST Valid First Aid and CPR certificate
MUST Vulnerable Sector Check
Ability to stand/sit/walk for long periods of time
Ability to complete frequent patrols
Ability to speak/read/communicate in English (fluently)
Able to multi-task and work well with little to no supervision
Excellent customer service and reception skills
Highly reliable
Work well under pressure
Able to work with minimal supervision
Ability to multitask
Professional who takes pride in your dress, deportment and performance at all times

Nice To Haves

Ability to speak French is consider an asset

Responsibilities

Security Guard at the public library
Ensuring access control is followed and client property is secured, escorting visitors as needed
Escorting trespassers off property (high homeless population in and around building, must be comfortable with these sorts of interactions)
Washroom checks, paraphernalia checks
Maintaining positive attitude and professional working relationships with employees, visitors and clients
Comfortable interacting with unhoused people
Maintaining high standards of personal appearance and deportment
Responding to alarms and utilization of alarm panels
Completing daily logs and written reports as necessary
Ability to walk/stand for a longer period of time, consistently patrolling 4 floors of library and outside
Other duties as may be required by the client or site supervisor
