About The Position

Under direct supervision, provide security and protection for students, campus personnel, patrons, and district property. This role involves assisting in the protection of students, staff, and District property, serving as a security resource, and establishing working relationships with faculty and law enforcement. The Security Guard will identify unauthorized persons, report criminal offenses, prepare reports, and appear in court as needed. A consistent adult presence is required at critical locations during school events, along with random security patrols. Coordination with Katy ISD police personnel and assistance during disasters are also key responsibilities. The role requires informing the Chief of Police of any conditions affecting safety and security.

Requirements

  • College hours, high school diploma or GED (preferred)
  • Texas Driver License and available transportation
  • Level two security commission from the Texas Commission on Private Security
  • Ability to record information
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instruction
  • Ability to work effectively with students
  • Ability to communicate effectively
  • Working knowledge of personal and property security techniques and electronic security systems
  • Possess skills and interest in working within an educational environment
  • Possess the sensitivity and maturity to work effectively with adolescents

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience as a security guard preferred

Responsibilities

  • Assist in protection of students, staff, and District property.
  • Serve as a security resource to students and campus personnel.
  • Establish and maintain an ongoing working relationship with faculty and law enforcement personnel serving the school community.
  • Identify unauthorized persons who come within the boundaries of the campus and verify their authority.
  • Report all criminal offenses, originating on assigned campuses, to the District’s police department.
  • Prepare and file all appropriate reports.
  • Appear in court and/or hearings as a witness or complainant when appropriate.
  • Provide a general and consistent adult presence at critical locations during school related events.
  • Provide a random security patrol on assigned campus.
  • Coordinate security services with Katy ISD police personnel.
  • Provide appropriate assistance during disasters such as hurricanes, tornadoes, fires, etc. (where Katy ISD personnel are required).
  • Through the standard chain of command, inform the Chief of Police of all conditions that effect safety and security of students, staff, and district property.
