About The Position

To provide general support for campus security related tasks; to patrol buildings and grounds to prevent fire, theft, vandalism and unauthorized entry; and to assist in the assurance of student safety on campus and during the school day and during special district activities.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of federal, state, and city laws, rules and regulations.
  • Knowledge of district policies and procedures.
  • Knowledge of general safety rules and techniques.
  • Skill with working with law enforcement and school administration
  • Skill in training security guards and other personnel on best practices for safety and security
  • Skill in patrolling and monitoring physical areas and people.
  • Skill in assuring safety at activities.
  • Skill in communicating orally and in writing.
  • Skill in performing first aid.
  • Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with others.
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Three years work experience in security or a related field or an equivalent combination or education and experience that provide the required knowledge and skill.
  • Must meet Arizona Department of Health Services safety and health requirements which include proof of immunity from Measles and Rubella.
  • Valid Arizona DPS IVP fingerprint Clearance card.
  • Able to perform the following physical requirements of the position with or without reasonable accommodation: critical sensory requirements include general vision, corrected to 20/20, hear or listen in the normal range (corrected) and speak and give directions clearly.
  • Able to walk, sit, stand, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach, lift (exerting force up to 50 pounds), carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects up to 125 lbs.
  • Arizona Driver’s License

Nice To Haves

  • the ability to obtain First Aid CPR certification within 60 days of employment.

Responsibilities

  • By example and enforcement, assist with student safety needs by regulating appropriate behavior and enforcing school policies.
  • May be asked to monitor in-school suspension.
  • Patrols and inspects doors, windows and gates, school grounds, cars and parking lots.
  • Confronts unauthorized persons and questions.
  • Calls police for assistance according to emergency action plan.
  • Prepares reports including documentation for emergencies, vandalism, disturbances, and names of individuals entering in the evening.
  • If appropriate - updates travel and maintenance logs for security vehicles.
  • Responds to calls for services or emergencies including but not limited to student incidents, burglar alarms, fire alarms and calls regarding conspicuous persons.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
