About The Position

This is a full-time Security Guard position focused on ensuring the safety and security of patients, staff, and visitors within a healthcare or educational facility. The role involves continuous monitoring of equipment and premises, responding to emergencies, enforcing regulations, and maintaining detailed reports. The position requires a high school diploma or equivalent, preferred experience in security or law enforcement, and a valid driver's license. Successful candidates must pass a drug test and criminal background check, and obtain specific certifications.

Requirements

  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent
  • 2 years security or law enforcement preferred
  • 2 years healthcare or education preferred
  • Driver’s License Class C
  • Must pass drug testing and criminal background check.
  • Prior work experience involving dealing with customers, troubleshooting, and/or managing stressful situations
  • Complete the Level II training course
  • First Aid/CPR/AEC Certification within 60-days of employment and maintain certification throughout employment

Responsibilities

  • Ensures the safety of patients, staff and visitors.
  • Escorts visitors, patients, and staff to and from parking areas.
  • Assists motorists who become stranded on facility property.
  • Provides continuous monitoring of central mechanical plant equipment through hourly rounding.
  • Provides continuous monitoring of building HVAC equipment through remote online Building Automation System.
  • Reports any building maintenance issues found on hourly rounding in the facility work order request portal.
  • Reports any urgent building maintenance concerns to the maintenance on call phone number.
  • Checks buildings and assigned areas to ensure safety and security providing walkthroughs of patient occupied units.
  • Conducts search of grounds, buildings, vehicles and assists with unit searches for contraband.
  • Checks perimeter fences, exit doors, fire extinguisher cabinets.
  • Participate in safety/maintenance inspections on the buildings and grounds.
  • Inspects electronic locks and security equipment.
  • Monitors surrounding area for weather or hazards that could endanger the facility.
  • Responds to all medical emergencies on campus as first responders with medical equipment for the emergency.
  • Exercises delegated statutory powers at the discretion of Superintendent.
  • Responds immediately to dangerous or emergency situations.
  • Enforces local laws and Hospital regulations.
  • Collect statements, evidence, photos and video for proper documentation for the Special Investigators as needed.
  • Enforces parking and traffic regulations.
  • Conducts accident investigations.
  • Patrols assigned areas, units, and buildings assigned.
  • Prepares and submits appropriate reports in a timely manner.
  • Reports and logs all activities in the department logbook and department logs.
  • Monitors and responds to fire and PPD alarms systems.
  • Monitors video surveillance equipment both inside the buildings and on perimeter.
  • Provides oral and written reports.
  • Observe and remain vigilant for signs of crime, disorder, hazard, and unusual activity.
  • Patrol hospital and parking lot to check for unsafe conditions, blocked entryways, security violations, mechanical problems, and unauthorized individuals.
  • Orally and physically de-escalating individuals, as needed.
  • Inspect all security devices and fire control equipment.
  • Respond to incidents of fire, medical emergency, bomb threat, flooding, water discharge, elevator emergency, hazardous materials, or inclement weather with calm urgency.
  • May also include patient escort, patient watch, and provide safety escort.
  • Participates in security and safety training.
  • Attends Hospital in-service sessions as assigned.
  • Assists with yearly mandated fire safety training for all Hospital employees.
  • Responds to all fire alarms or calls on campus.
  • Participate in evacuation and fire drills monthly.
  • Inspect alarms, extinguishers, standpipes and hydrants.
  • Assists as needed according to rules, regulations and department / Hospital policies, investigations and arrests.
