About The Position

Guards St. Labre property against fire, theft, vandalism, and illegal entry by performing various duties. This is a temporary position within the Human Resources department, reporting to the Safety/Security Coordinator. The role involves patrolling buildings and grounds, examining security measures, enforcing rules, inspecting for tampering, reporting irregularities, observing personnel, sounding alarms, permitting authorized entry, recording data, operating security systems, and serving trespass notices. The Security Guard also assists local law enforcement and provides security for school activities.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out duties.
  • Ability to deal with problems and situations.
  • Ability to read and write simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Must be reliable and trustworthy.
  • Valid MT driver's license.
  • Respects the teachings of the gospel of Jesus Christ in private, personal, and public life.
  • Commitment to the mission of the Roman Catholic Church in Native American education.
  • Sensitivity to, and appreciation of Native American people and their cultures.
  • Ability to serve as an appropriate role model for students.

Nice To Haves

  • One to six months related experience and/or training preferred.
  • Prior experience in law enforcement and/or military background preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Patrols buildings and grounds of St. Labre, including the airstrip and park.
  • Examines doors, windows, and gates to determine that they are secure.
  • Warns violators of rule infractions and apprehends or expels persons engaging in suspicious or criminal acts.
  • Inspects equipment and machinery to ascertain if tampering has occurred.
  • Watches for and reports irregularities such as fire hazards, leaking water pipes, and security doors left unlocked.
  • Observes departing personnel to guard against theft of company property.
  • Sounds alarm or calls police or fire department in case of fire or presence of unauthorized persons.
  • Permits authorized persons to enter property.
  • Records data such as property damage, unusual occurrences, and malfunctioning of machinery or equipment.
  • Operates the Kenco security system.
  • Reports all open doors, windows, and any incidents to the supervisor.
  • Serves and enforces all “Notice of Trespass” documents against named individuals.
  • Assists local law enforcement when problems occur in St. Labre housing units and/or on campus.
  • Assists security efforts at activities such as ballgames, dances, and other school-related activities.
