TEMP Security Guard (Lambuth Campus)
About The Position
Temporary employment with the University of Memphis is limited to a period of no more than one year at a time. Temporary appointments are intended to address short-term or limited-duration staffing needs and do not guarantee continued employment or placement in a permanent position. Each temporary appointment must be reviewed and, when appropriate, renewed annually based on departmental need, funding, performance, and applicable University requirements. Renewal is not automatic, and continued employment should not be assumed beyond the approved appointment period. Temporary employees who wish to remain under consideration for employment opportunities should maintain an active and current application/profile within the University’s applicant system. Temporary employment does not guarantee selection for future temporary or permanent positions, and individuals must meet the qualifications and requirements of any position for which they are considered.
Requirements
- Applicants must be authorized to work in the U.S.

Responsibilities
- Patrols the campus to deter crime and maintain building security.
- Patrols parking facilities to prevent theft and vandalism and to issue citations as appropriate.
- Writes reports of daily activities and irregularities such as equipment or property damage, theft, presence of unauthorized persons, or unusual occurrences.
- Calls police or fire departments in cases of emergency, such as fire or the presence of unauthorized persons.
- Answers alarms and investigates disturbances.
- Assists police officers in apprehending, arresting, and filing charges on suspects when appropriate.
- Responds to security alarms checking for intruders and burglars.
- Makes building checks to ensure locked doors, closed windows, lights turned off or on as appropriate.
- Provides security escort service for students and employees.
- Performs other related duties as required.
