About The Position

We are recruiting for a Security Officer to work with local businesses and community at the Newton BIA area in Surrey. This role involves being a visible community presence to promote safety and security, working with local businesses and community members to ensure a safe environment, observing and reporting any unusual activity, taking detailed notes to investigate incidents promptly and accurately, establishing positive relationships with transit police, business owners, and community members, and engaging with the public and responding to their concerns and inquiries. Commissionaires BC is a Canadian, not-for-profit security/enforcement organization that has been in business since 1927. Our mandate is to give back to those who served and continue to serve in our communities and country. Commissionaires provides security services for over 200 sites and are located in over 110 communities across the province. Our client base runs from the Federal Government to local municipalities, airports, industrial sectors, and commercial/residential buildings. Our guards are not only behind the scenes providing security and access control, but front and center providing valued customer service to the public.

Requirements

Valid BC security license
Basic First Aid Certificate
Advanced Security Training Certificate
Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a security position, ideally in a similar environment
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Proven experience dealing with various members of the public
Proven time-management and organizational skills
Physically able to conduct extensive foot patrols, and to spend your shift up on your feet
De-escalation certification
Naxalone Training certification

Nice To Haves

BC Class 5 Drivers license
