About The Position

Commissionaires Great Lakes (CGL) is a private, not-for-profit organization founded in 1925 with a mandate to provide meaningful employment for veterans and others committed to the well-being of Canadians, primarily in security guard and related services. CGL serves Central and Southwestern Ontario, offering customized security solutions including uniformed guards, mobile response, by-law enforcement, and identification services. This posting is for an existing vacancy for a Commissionaire to join their growing team. The role requires a commitment to serving clients and employees to enhance organizational success.

Requirements

  • MUST Ontario Security Guard License
  • MUST Valid First Aid and CPR certificate
  • MUST Have the ability to obtain Level II Secret Clearance (resident in Canada 10 years or longer, clean record, clean credit history)
  • Strong computer skills and knowledge of usage of tablet/ipad is required
  • Ability to stand/sit/walk for long periods of time
  • Ability to complete frequent patrols
  • Must wear safety boots at all times on site
  • Ability to lift up-to 25 lbs
  • Highly reliable
  • Work well under pressure
  • Able to work with minimal supervision
  • Ability to multitask
  • Professionalism in dress, deportment and performance

Responsibilities

  • Ensure access control policies and procedures are followed and client property is secured
  • Monitor CCTV cameras
  • Maintain positive attitude and professional working relationships with employees, visitors and clients
  • Complete site reporting requirements, daily logs and written reports
  • Maintain high standards of personal appearance and deportment
  • Maintain effective communication
  • Respond to alarms and calls for assistance
  • Provide assistance to employees, clients and visitors
  • Perform regular interior and exterior foot patrols
  • Monitoring and foot patrolling of parking lot
  • Enforce the Trespass to Property Act when required
  • Complete patrol and incident reports utilizing reporting software, and paper reports as required
  • Sign visitors in and out along with ID checks
  • Report concerns or complaints received to Supervisor or Manager
  • Perform 'stand downs' at client locations to ensure continuity of guard service, as requested by supervisor or manager.
  • Be available to adjust schedule as required to accommodate the needs of the team.
  • Undertake all training assigned to you in a timely fashion.
  • Maintain professionalism at all times, during all interactions.
  • Liaise with Police, Fire, EMS as appropriate during incidents.
  • Operate company patrol vehicle in accordance with company policy and HTA regulations.
  • Other duties as may be required by the client or site supervisor
