About The Position

The Security Guard reports to and works closely with the Senior Facilities Manager. This role is responsible for protecting WRBC private property against theft, vandalism, and unauthorized access, and ensuring the safety and security of all individuals while on the WRBC Greenwich premises. The Security Guard monitors and reports any potential risks or safety concerns to the operations team to support environmental health, public safety, and risk management efforts. They follow established security policies, procedures, and protocols, and assist in monitoring the physical 475 Steamboat Road property, including Building Security Systems, CCTV, fire and sprinkler systems, life-safety equipment (e.g., AED), and other building support systems. Regular patrols of the facility are conducted, documenting observations, incidents, or irregularities. The Security Guard also provides assistance to employees, guests, and vendors as needed while maintaining a professional and vigilant presence. Communication and teamwork are essential to maintaining a safe work environment for employees and protecting critical equipment, building property, and physical assets. This role supports day-to-day security coverage across all operating hours (Mon–Fri 06:00–22:00; Sat–Sun 08:00–16:00; year-round) and provides excellent customer service to employees, guests, and visitors. The Security Guard maintains required certifications and completes all necessary security and system-related training. They collaborate with fellow guards to ensure smooth communication and consistent security coverage, address guest questions and concerns professionally and courteously, and adhere to assigned schedules and established procedures for requesting time off. Accurate and timely completion of timesheets and required daily reports is expected. Relevant updates or issues are communicated to the Operations Manager as needed. Duties are performed in accordance with established Security Post Orders and Building Procedures. On-site security coverage is provided as assigned, and the Security Guard remains available during scheduled shifts. Clear and thorough daily notes, weekend summaries, and incident logs are prepared to support smooth operations. Procedures related to displaying flags are followed, and assigned tasks are carried out in the event of inclement weather. All office security procedures are followed, and participation in ongoing program requirements is expected. Adherence to established site security plans, post orders, emergency procedures, and safety checklists is mandatory. Participation in required security training and adherence to all updated protocols are also expected. Assistance is provided during emergency situations as directed to help safeguard the organization’s people and property. Security or safety issues impacting building operations are reported, and assistance is provided in facilitating resolution when appropriate. Access control or security reports are run when requested and authorized. CCTV or access control footage is reviewed for incidents, as directed by Operations Management or HR. Daily parking procedures are followed, and temporary or medical parking permits are issued when assigned.

Requirements

  • Experience as a security guard, police officer, or military police officer.
  • Solid understanding of basic security practices and procedures.
  • Training and experience working with electronic monitoring and surveillance systems.
  • Team player with knowledge of and adherence to best practices in safety and security.
  • Strong critical thinking skills and the ability to quickly observe situations and respond appropriately.
  • Proven ability to work discreetly with confidential and sensitive information.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Ability to clearly relay information, observations, and security-related details to colleagues, internal customers, and supervisors.
