About The Position

This position is responsible for ensuring the safety of the Hospital and Hospital grounds for patients and staff. The Security Guard will perform various duties including making security rounds, checking alarms, locking doors, providing basic assistance to patients and staff, performing general maintenance, and assisting staff with various tasks. The role also involves responding to emergencies and maintaining reports.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED) required.
  • Valid driver’s license required.
  • If deemed a driver in your position, a valid Driver’s license and proof of insurance are required.
  • Motor Vehicle Record checks will be performed upon hire, in addition to annually thereafter.

Nice To Haves

  • One to three months related experience and/or training preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Make security rounds of the hospital and hospital grounds.
  • Check all door alarms daily to ensure they are in working order and that they are set so patients cannot exit the hospital.
  • Lock all outside doors on a daily basis to ensure the security of the Hospital.
  • Provide basic assistance for patients and staff.
  • Move patient cars from the Emergency Room parking lot to the upper parking lot to keep the emergency lot clear for the arrival of ambulances.
  • Assist with combative patients to provide protection of nursing personnel.
  • Move patients from one department to another with assistance of nursing staff.
  • Jump start cars when car batteries are drained.
  • Perform general maintenance duties.
  • Move various items in the Hospital.
  • Change oxygen tanks to ensure there are adequately full oxygen tanks on the floor if needed.
  • Change nitrous oxide tank for the Operating Room.
  • Reset elevators so visitors can get to the Nursing Departments or parking lot and Hospital personnel can get patient’s to their rooms.
  • Clean up various spills to prevent people from slipping and falling.
  • Shovel snow to ensure walkways and steps are free from snow.
  • Take call sheets to floors to inform nurses of which physician is on call.
  • Take litters back to the Emergency Room to ensure there are enough litters.
  • Escort nurses to their vehicles for protection purposes so nurses do not have to leave the hospital alone.
  • Take cadavers to the morgue so the funeral director can pick up the cadaver and the nurse can clean the bed for the next patient.
  • Take bed scale to CCU or Wing 3 so departments can weigh patients.
  • Provide assistance on the Helopad by turning on lights for the helicopter landing and take the litter to the Helopad.
  • Complete the daily surveillance rounds report.
  • Participate in fire drills.
  • Respond to code black, blue, pink, winhos.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned or required.
  • Follow standard precaution guidelines.
