The Security Guard is responsible for providing primary safety, shipping, security and administrative duties at the Cherokee facility.

Requirements

  • Prior experience in a related role (preferred).
  • High School Diploma or equivalent (GED).
  • Capable to become certified in CPR and use of the site AED.
  • Ability to work with people at all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to multi-task, work under pressure and meet deadlines are required.
  • Excellent computer skills and attention to detail a must.
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs and complete company physical.

Responsibilities

  • Administer safety and security video for visitors, contractors, etc. and issue personal protective equipment (PPE) as applicable.
  • Call law enforcement or emergency medical assistance during plant emergencies as directed.
  • Maintain basic first aid station and supplies.
  • Distribute supplies as needed.
  • Participate and administer head count during emergency incidents and emergency response drills.
  • Monitor fire alarm panels and notify Shift Foreman of activated alarms.
  • Administer provisions of truck loading at main gate control point to include weigh scales, bill of ladings, driver CDL verifications, MSDS issuance, and additional requirements per 00TS201 “Requirements for Loading All Products”.
  • Administer provisions of JD Edwards software system for control and issuance of product shipping.
  • Attain and maintain State of Alabama “Public Weigh Master” seal.
  • Monitor and authorize main gate entrance and departure of employees, contractors, and visitors, and other personnel to guard against theft and maintain security of premises.
  • Administer badge identification software system for issuance and control of ID badges for all personnel entering and exiting the facility.
  • Monitor facility security surveillance cameras and report suspicious activity.
  • Perform vehicular security inspections per requirements in Facility Security Plan.
  • Perform pedestrian security inspections per requirements in Facility Security Plan.
  • Administer provisions of reporting incidents, security threats, and breaches of security.
  • Be knowledgeable and administer responsibilities associated with MARSEC Levels 1, 2, and 3.
  • Participate in security drills and exercises as directed by Facility Security Officer.
  • Attain and maintain Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC).
  • Administer call outs for maintenance and contract maintenance as directed by Shift Supervisor.
  • Maintain records as directed by supervision regarding safety, security, and shipping.
  • Acts as the site nurse to perform first aid.
  • Will also work to provide vacation and other personal time off (PTO) relief for Primary Security Guards working the 12-hour rotating shift, therefore will be required to work 12-hour rotating shift as needed.
  • Train with the Traffic Assistant to perform traffic duties in the traffic department.
  • This job is an 8-hour day shift Monday-Friday.
  • Other duties as assigned
