Requirements

  • Ability to read and write English.
  • Active and unrestricted California Guard Card.
  • Valid CA Driver’s License with a clean driving record and up-to-date auto insurance.
  • Current American Heart Association or American Red Cross accredited BLS certification.
  • Two years of security guard-related experience or related field preferred.

  • Knowledge of relevant equipment, policies, procedures, and strategies to promote effective local, state, or national security operations of the protection of people, data, property, and institutions.

Responsibilities

  • Observe and report safety or security concerns on DAP Health grounds.
  • Act as a visible deterrent to crime.
  • Monitor the grounds for suspicious activities and watch for any criminal acts or any safety issues.
  • Monitor building entrances including arrivals and departures of employees, visitors, or other persons to guard against theft and maintain the security of the premises.
  • Cover the welcome desk as needed.
  • Monitor security cameras for inappropriate activity.
  • Patrol buildings and premises on foot or in a vehicle to prevent and detect signs of intrusion and ensure the security of doors, windows, and gates.
  • Conduct openings and closings of DAP Health areas and buildings.
  • Circulate among visitors, patrons, and employees to preserve order and protect property.
  • Respond rapidly to security emergencies within the buildings.
  • Respond to calls on radio and security phone regarding reports and alerts.
  • Answer alarms and investigate disturbances.
  • Notify proper authorities of any unruly persons we need assistance with to remove them from the premises.
  • Notify police or fire departments in cases of emergency, such as fire or the presence of unauthorized persons.
  • Participate as a Crisis Intervention Team member to respond to staff crisis buttons.
  • Maintain awareness of individuals on the BOLO (be on the lookout) list and monitor premises to ensure they are not on premises.
  • Provide assistance to patients, clients, or guests when requested.
  • Complete reports of daily activities and irregularities, such as equipment or property damage, theft, presence of unauthorized persons, or unusual occurrences.
  • Visually inspect equipment and machinery to detect evidence of tampering.
  • Account for and accept DAP Health deliveries and contact the appropriate department to pick them up.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
