Security Guard - Full-time - Second Shift
About The Position
McConway & Torley is currently seeking a Security Guard for Second Shift. In this position you will monitor the grounds of the facility, and ensure that access is limited to those authorized to be on property. The work environment includes plant, warehouse, production and non-production areas and plant grounds. This position may require work/maintenance coverage beyond the normal hours, shift, and on weekends/holidays. The role requires the ability to tolerate both high and low temperatures, and loud noises typical of a manufacturing plant. The Security Guard must be aware of and observe all safety practices, including but not limited to- safety glasses, safety boots, hearing protection, etc. as required. They must know and follow all safety rules and procedures, and participate in safety committees and initiatives as assigned. This is a safety-sensitive position.
Requirements
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Proficient with Microsoft office suite, to include, Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Strong observational skills, effective communication abilities, and the ability to remain calm under pressure
- Consistent and Predictable attendance is required
Nice To Haves
- Previous experience in security or law enforcement is preferred
Responsibilities
- Regularly patrolling assigned areas to deter and detect signs of intrusion or suspicious activity
- Observing and monitoring surveillance cameras and alarm systems to identify and respond to potential security breaches
- Managing access to facilities by checking identification and granting or denying entry as needed
- Responding promptly to alarms, emergencies, or disturbances; assess situations and take appropriate action, including contacting law enforcement if necessary
- Preparing detailed reports of incidents, observations, and activities for record-keeping and management review
- Providing assistance to visitors and staff; answering questions and ensure a positive experience while maintaining security protocols
- Understanding and implementing emergency response procedures for various scenarios, including fire, medical emergencies, or evacuations
